Midterms, oh how we all love them. Although they are not as crazy as finals, they do bring on a lot of stress to students. To conquer midterms, the following tips will hopefully be helpful and give some motivation to you all. Here are ten tips to do great on midterms during this lovely fall term.

Sleep

Sleep is so important for information retention during midterm season. Each and every piece of information fed to your brain needs to be processed. Sleeping also helps our bodies relax, allowing them to get energy for the next day. Midterms will seem harder if you are low on energy and if your body didn’t get enough time to relax.

Take Breaks

Breaks will be your best buddies, they give your brain time to reboot and rethink about those hard math problems or the weird concepts in biology that you don’t get. Breaks will also make studying less painful because you get some escape time to think about other things that are not about school and midterms.

Use Motivation Factors

A huge motivating factor is that there is reading week coming up and also the fact that there will be more time to do things that you love. Motivating factors can also be for short-term breaks, such as getting a chocolate bar after finishing a few chapters of readings or reviewing slides from a presentation.

Chuck Time and Energy

To study better and not lose sanity, chunking time gives you more time to learn fewer things, which makes remembering and understanding information easier. Saving energy makes midterms less dreadful because putting all your energy into cramming will make taking the actual exam tiring.

Start Early

Begin studying for at least a week before the exam to reduce the chances of cramming. Starting early also gives a person more time to plan and also go and take longer breaks to rejuvenate while studying.

Be Stress-Free

Stressing won’t help with anything, instead, rising cortisol levels will just make things worse. Stressing causes studying to become more complicated than it should be because things will seem harder. Take deep breaths and just focus, give it your best.

Eat Food

Stay satiated and study with a full stomach. Food is eaten to give the human body energy and sometimes, food breaks allow us to think and process information while we give our body energy.

Use Interval App

This app has saved me so many times, the app helps me focus and get more studying done in a smaller amount of time. Every 25-minutes I get a 5-minute break, allowing me to concentrate and absorb information and understand it in a shorter amount of time.

Find a Good Space

The space that you study in is very important, it determines how fast you will study and how much information you can comprehend. Finding a good space will help you stick to studying in one spot more easily.

Be Confident

You got this! Midterms are scary but if you are confident then they aren’t that scary. Everything is easier when a person is confident and ready to face the challenges coming their way.

Midterms can be stressful, scary, and tiring. Hopefully, these ten tips are helpful and you all do wonderful on your exams. Once they are done you will enjoy the rest of the term to have fun and chill with friends. Just breathe and you will do great on those midterms. Good luck!
