Last year I went to the College Fashion Week event in New York City and I had the time of my life. The experience was so empowering and exciting that I knew I had to go again this year! Her Campus is a big part of my life on campus, and it is so amazing to meet so many girls from all over the map at this event. Since I had never visited Boston before, I chose to go this year with four other girls from our campus’s chapter.
Once we got off our red-eye flight on Friday morning, we immediately started exploring the city. (Well, we didn’t have any other option since we couldn’t check into our hostel until 4 PM!) We started off by grabbing a few coffees of course and then started our day with a historical tour of Harvard. After exploring Cambridge for a few hours, we went shopping on the infamous Newbury Street. Some of our favorite stores were Brandy Melville, Urban Outfitters, Uniqlo and Madewell. We decided to make the mile-long walk to Fenway Park instead of taking an Uber. Along the way, we had so many mini-photo shoots because the scenery in the city is breathtaking.Â

The night ended early for us, considering we were drained from our early flight.
The majority of our second day was spent in the Seaport District of Boston. Of course, we had to see the Glossier pop-up shop! After doing some damage there, we spent our time walking down the streets exploring. We had lunch at an authentic seafood restaurant on the harbor called No Name Restaurant. The views and eats were definitely my favorites of the trip. We shopped in a market that was hosting a “Black-Owned Business Event” and I got to meet some amazing women who were so passionate about their businesses and brands. Finally, it was time for the fashion show!Â
We got to meet so many girls from other chapters at the event. Most were surprised to hear that we came all the way from West Virginia! Some girls gave us tips for exploring the city and let us know the places we had to see. It was amazing to be surrounded by so many like-minded individuals who were all working towards similar goals.
In my opinion, the fashion show was even better this year than last! There were so many Instagrammable moments and free swag courtesy of the Her Campus team and their sponsors. There was a confetti bubble perfect for a squad photoshoot sponsored by Venmo, a create your own bouquet station and the most adorable mini-cupcakes and cheesecakes. There were even free t-shirts from Primark and you could choose your own design! In my goodie bag, there was a reusable water bottle, Ivory Ella socks, Kind protein bars, Innisfree face masks, a Jill Stuart lipstick kit, Batiste dry shampoo and so many other adorable items.Â

The runway is dominated by real college girls that are just like me and my friends. The models are diverse, beautiful, confident and so representative of the average college girl. There were three types of looks shown on the runway- Stylish comfort, 90’s grunge and true neutrals. Each look showed off a different outfit from Primark, and they did not disappoint. After the show, we actually went shopping at the Primark store in Boston since they don’t have one in West Virginia. To say the least, I am so happy that I traveled 600 miles for this event. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to go on this trip through WVU’s chapter of Her Campus because of my membership and participation last year. I would totally recommend this trip to anyone who has the option. You will make new friends with the girls in your school’s group and outside. It’s such a cool experience that you can only see for yourself. I’ll see you next year, College Fashion Week!
