2020 seems light years away. But before we know it, next autumn will be upon us and the presidential election will be right around the corner. Although it may seem as if there’s more time in the world between then and now, the first primaries of the election begin as early as February of 2020! To make your vote count, read on to find out why now is the time to start paying attention to the 2020 election.

For many of us college students, the next presidential election will be the first or second time we are voting. It is no longer solely our parent’s responsibility to decide who are the right leaders for our country, but ours as well! And as we prepare to enter the workforce in the “real” world after graduation, the issues on-hand for the election will have an impact on our lives. From decisions about women’s reproductive health to plans tackling global climate change, there is a lot at stake in this next election.

So, why should you start thinking about the election now? Well, just within the democratic party alone, there are twenty candidates running. In the republican party, there are four candidates. That’s a whopping twenty-four people you have to choose from to throw your support under. In fact, many important debates between candidates have already begun. Each of these candidates has their own vision for the future of the United States, and their vision encompasses solutions to problems that you will inevitably either agree or disagree with. That is why now is a great time to start diving into the topics that will be up for debate in the future, as well as the various candidate’s plans that will shape the political landscape of the U.S. for the next four years.

Now that we’ve got you thinking about the election, you’re probably wondering where to go to find information about all the of the candidates running, and how to figure out exactly which one is the right choice for you. A great resource to start with is isidewith.com. There you can take a quiz that includes questions about pretty much everything the President has a say on and does. You can find out your stance on important issues, and the results of your quiz will tell you just how much your views align with every candidate!

Even if politics aren’t your thing, there’s no denying that the next President will have an impact on your life, if not the world around you. Before you know it, it’ll be time for you to cast your vote and have a real voice in our democracy.  By being prepared now, you will set yourself up for success as a voter, and will be truly making a difference in the election!
