Self-Care September
For many of us September is the start of new beginnings during our year. Wheater you’re, starting a new semester of schoo, or an internship, maybe moving into a new apartment or dorm, September always seems to feel like a fresh start. It’s important to remember that when you are having so many changes in your life, you need to take care of yourself mentally even more. With so much going on around you, it’s easy to feel anxious or maybe not at your best all the time. September may ne for new beginnings, but it should also be for self-care. Taking care of your mental and physical health is essential to having a great academic school year. Let’s go through a few things you can do, to have your amazing Self Care September.
Wardrobe!
September is the month that kicks off fall, so what better time to start preparing for fall fashion! Fall fashion is everyone’s favorite time of the year and it’s the best time to express your fashion style and feel your best. Fall allows you to have a fresh start and create a fashion style that represents that new start. A great way to prepare for your fall wardrobe is thrifting! Thrifting is a great way to find new articles of clothing, hidden gems and stock up on your favorite essentials. Going to new stores and looking through bins and racks of vintage clothing can be very satisfying. Pick a Saturday, grab a close girlfriend and a Starbucks coffee and have a day of thrifting, you won’t regret it!
Organizing!
Staying organized may sound like the most boring way to take care of yourself, but it can be the most rewarding! Taking care of your mental and physical health is very important and when you help ease stress off yourself it helps reduce anxiety and related symptoms. Grab a planner, or a calendar and make time to organize your life. Plan your daily schedule, group projects, business meetings, even time to be by yourself and maybe binge watch Netflix. In college, it can be difficult to be good at so many things at once, and we tend to put so much pressure on ourselves to be perfect. Anything you can do to be kinder to yourself and love yourself more is amazing!
Social Media Cleanse!
We as collegiates, spend a lot of time on social media and it plays a bigger part to our mental health then we would like to admit. Constantly being on social media plays a huge part in your mental health and how you view yourself and your life. If the first thing you see when you wake up and the last thing you see when you go to sleep, is your phone and how can you have good mental health? Taking time off on social media is a great way to refocus, re-align, and reconnect with yourself. Not constantly being on your phone, comparing yourself to others, and being obsessed with other people’s live you will have your head spinning in circles. When you wake up, go for a walk or a run before you check your phone. Before you go to bed at night, disconnect with your phone for about one hour. Allow your mind to be calm before you cramp it with emails, schoolwork, and the responsibilities for life give yourself some peace and calm.
These are my tips on how you can have a great start to this part of your year. You should always put yourself first and give yourself the love you deserve to be at your very best. Your health in all aspects should be made first. So, while you’re conquering the world don’t forget to make time for you!
