Jake Miller is a 26-year-old musician from South Florida. His newest single “Wait for You” has been high on the charts for weeks now. Although this is a great song that I’m so glad is gaining popularity, as someone who has been supporting Jake for years, I know this song is just a snippet of his talent. If you love music as much as I do and want a new artist to bop along to, check out these 10 other songs sung by one of my all-time favorite artists.Â
- “Permanent”
-
“Don’t know what to say when my mom asks about you.”
Most of us have someone we regret losing. As the days pass, there’s no getting back that person you lost and it can hurt. In this song, Jake captures that pain of thinking you had a forever with someone, but watching it slip from your grasp.
- “NIKES”
-
“Even though I know you’re gone, something keeps me holding on.”
Memories of a lost love are painful, especially when it’s hard to escape them. Having a constant reminder that someone is no longer in your life hurts. This song is perfect to blast when you just want the memories to disappear along with them.
- “First Flight Home”
-
“I’ll be home in no time. I promise when I touch down it’ll be like I never left.”
Whether you’re missing friends, family, pets or even just home in general, this song is perfect for you. Almost everyone can relate to wanting to drop everything and catch a flight back home at some point.Â
- “Back to the Start”
-
“Holding hands like ‘damn we legitimate.’ So naive, so innocent.”
Young love can be a wonderful thing. Unfortunately, it doesn’t always last. This song perfectly captures wanting that innocent love to last forever, but instead watching it crash and burn.
- “Sunshine”
-
“‘Cause the sun don’t rise without sunshine. Don’t worry about us, we’ll be just fine.”
Jake’s good friend Dylan Schopp died of suicide in 2015. This song is a reminder that Dylan and his death had a large impact on those around him, including Jake.
- “Be Alright”
-
“When you feel like you’ve lost your way, when you’ve seen every shade of gray, just know that everything will be alright.”
This is my all-time favorite Jake Miller song. No matter how tough things get, everything will fall into place and be alright in the end. This song is perfect for when you just need a breather from everything.Â
- “Overnight”
-
“Or if you hate me, baby, maybe you should just leave.”
Relationships are not always easy. They’re hard work and can get to be a lot sometimes. In this song, Jake reminds everyone that if you choose to ignore your problems in a relationship, they may escalate and cause irreversible damage.Â
- “Palm Blvd”
-
“I’m on my way home, back where I belong.”
This song is all about never forgetting where you came from. Travel and growth are important, but so is remembering where it all started and how you got to where you are. Personally, this song will always have a special place in my heart—Palm Blvd is the street I grew up on, too.
- “A Million Lives”
-
“Now I got an army coming with me on my mission. I thank God for all of you every single night, ’cause believe it or not you saved my life.”
This is the first song I ever heard by Jake and I was immediately hooked. Music changes lives and that’s what this song is all about. Jake’s music has gotten his fans through some hard times, but it’s also got him through a lot, too. His life was originally on a different path, but his and his fans’ lives changed (for the better) because he decided to pursue music instead.Â
- “Puppet”
-
“You can’t pursue your dreams and have a normal life, too.”
The celebrity life is overwhelming. The fame mixed with typical life obligations can be stressful. Jake reminds everyone that he is a person too and sometimes needs a break from it all, just like everybody else.Â
Even if you only listen to a song or two, I promise it will be worth it. Jake is such an underrated artist who deserves so much more support. His music has helped me and many others get through tough times. I’m sure you will find a new favorite song if you listen to this incredibly talented artist.
