When I first heard about Disney+, I thought to myself, “Great. Another streaming service.” Already in the loop with HBO Now, Netflix, Hulu, and even DC Universe, I was absolutely positive that I didn’t want anything to do with Disney+. Then the press conference conference led by CEO Bob Iger came out.

In just three hours, they announced exclusive shows, talked about what movies would be on the service, threw in an Avengers: Endgame clip, and announced the price at $7 – which is a lot cheaper than a lot other streaming services. As a college student, I don’t find that price bad and since they mentioned that there will most likely be student discount, I think I’m going to find myself jumping aboard.

By year one, Disney+ will have more than 25 original series and more than 10 original movies, documentaries and specials. The streaming service will also have more than 7,500 series episodes and more than 500 movies. More than 100 of those movies are recent titles like Ant-man and the Wasp, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, Frozen 2 and Thor: Ragnorak. The will also make an original series based off Loki that will star Tom Hiddleston.

It’s also a streaming service I can see being beneficial for those who are constantly dealing with younger kids and/or want to reconnect closely to their childhood movies and shows. Some of the movies that I saw on the list that make me happy to have a service like that on hand are Lilo and Stitch, Bao, Sleeping Beauty, Monsters University, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, and The Little Mermaid.

Some of the shows that they will have on the service are That’s So Raven, Kim Possible, and for some reason surprisingly, The Simpsons.

The streaming service is set to launch November 12, 2019.
