I’ve always loved spring, and there’s just something about the idea of new beginnings and growth that I truly appreciate. While this idea can be easily applied to other areas, we sometimes forget to take time to reflect on our relationships with others. It can be one of the hardest things in the world, but also the most necessary. I think everyone can relate to experiencing a toxic relationship. Whether it be romantically, with a friend or maybe even a family member. Sometimes some people come into our lives that just aren’t meant to be there forever. I’m not saying you should cut off anyone that you get in an argument with; you want to be aware of the relationships that are worth hanging onto in life, and those that you’re better off letting go of. A genuinely healthy relationship with another person is supposed to enrich your life and push you to be a better version of yourself. In the spirit of new beginnings, it’s time to let go of people who can make you feel bad about yourself or discourage you at every turn.
Some relationships aren’t meant to last forever, and sometimes the most crucial self-growth comes from letting go of those people or things that hinder your journey. It doesn’t always have to be this substantial dramatic scene. While I know it can be complicated, most times you’ll find that it’s better for both people to part ways. Every one of us is on our unique path, and I believe that life’s too short to let toxic relationships ruin that.
While it hasn’t happened often, I can think of relationships in my life that I let continue because I was so scared of how someone would react; even though I knew it was a toxic situation for me to be in. I should have been looking out for my mental health first because that’s what’s most important. Please take time to reflect on the relationships in your life and make sure they’re all benefiting your personal growth! I promise you it will be much better for you in the long run.
