Philadelphia during the springtime is extremely beautiful. There are a ton of things to do in the city during this time as well.
Here are 8 things to do whether you live here, are visiting, or simply want to know what’s going on around Philadelphia in the spring:
Â
- Cherry Blossom Festival
-
This happens every year during April. It’s a spring celebration of the culture, craft and cuisine of Japan!
Located in Fairmount Park, there are a ton of things to do there like origami sessions, trying out new foods, and watching dance and drumming performances.
It’s definitely a great way to learn more about Japan’s culture, get beautiful Instagram photos with the cherry blossom trees, and have a great time with friends and family.
- Philadelphia Museum of Art
-
While this may seem as a basic attraction to those who live in Philly, I still believe it’s a great way to get out of the house and go downtown.
Every first Sunday of the month at the museum is a “pay what you wish” day so you can get into the museum for as little as a single cent!
It’s a great way to explore new art pieces, get some quick food in the cafeteria, and of course, go out front to the Rocky Steps and sit by the water fountain.
- Rittenhouse Square
-
This place is absolutely gorgeous during the spring.
The trees are blossoming, the dogs are being walked, and there are picnics happening all over the park.
This is the place you want to be on a day with beautiful weather. You can get food and eat it in the square while enjoying watching people dance, play instruments, draw/paint… you name it.
- LOVE Park
-
Another cliché attraction site, but they always have a ton of festivals or craft shows going on here.
You can get delicious food while you’re at it too! It’s right across the street from City Hall where even more things to do await.
- Penn’s Landing
-
Hammocks, roller skating, deserts, ferris wheels… the list goes on!
A place for the perfect date night but also a great location to spend your day with friends. The attractions are endless and you’ll not only get a ton of great photos but make amazing memories too.
- South Street
-
This is right near Penn’s Landing and has a TON of shops, restaurants, and art.
You can walk down the famous street that’s filled with endless clothing, music, and thrift shops. They’re all independent and not name brand too which makes it even more special and unique!
- Philly Magic Gardens
-
Located on South Street, Magic Gardens is a beautiful gallery space outside that’s completely made up of mosaics.
You can walk up and down steps, sit on chairs and go under tunnels that are all made of beautiful mosaics by Isaiah Zagar.
There are indoor galleries as well! Not only are the mosaics featured inside the garden, but you can find them on random walls around South Street too.
- Franklin Square
-
An extremely popular area that has carousel rides, mini golf, delicious food, and more! A great day trip with friends and family for some fun in the sun and great memories.
Of course there are endless things to do in Philly during the spring, but these are some of the ones I think stand out the most and would be enjoyable for everyone.
So, go get to exploring and have a great time!
