“That Warm Embrace” by Michal Mitchell

What a fire to burn…

My deep red, and marigold

Colors

I could not live without

They blind the soul and tear my heart

But isn’t it so aesthetically pleasing?

To relish in the warm embrace

Of the blood of ones own

This is a metaphor

Don’t take it into account

I don’t want you to

Because the image itself is a bit dark and dreamy

But its one that is beautiful in the mind.

Only to the dreamers

Who wait each day in and out

Staring out the window

The cars stretch for miles

And you can feel the fire

At the back of your mind

Breathing in your ear

Its breath is racing hot

Faster than your heart

Warmer than your blood

And that window looks so tempting

so beautiful in the sunlight.

Don’t be fooled

The ones who find beauty also ignore that window

Instead, they stare at that wall

It’s bound to your head

Oh and what dread.

How can my body be so inclined to shift towards a pain

To overthrow an other, that of the insane

Every muscle, every inch, every time

Is drawn to that spot,

When the fire grows too loud

When it spreads to the hills

The smoke fills the sky.

It’s a devil and a beauty that fire

And what a fire to burn…
