In society, there is unfortunately a huge pressure on how we look and our weight. With so many celebrities and magazines promoting photoshop and “healthy diets”, there is this stigma that everybody has to be thin. Because of this, many people wish that they were thinner and go to extreme limits to make themselves look “thin”. Something that people don’t really talk about though, is what it’s like to be too thin.

Being underweight or too thin is equally as problematic and challenging as being overweight. I have unfortunately been a victim of this problem for years. With so many people trying to “diet” and be healthy, it’s hard when that ice cream is actually healthy for you, but you’re judged for eating it. People often tell me all the time that they “wish they looked like me”, but the reality is, I wouldn’t wish this on anyone. Being too thin means being just as nervous to get on the scale as the other side of things. It means not being able to do things like go vegetarian, because you would lose half your nutrients and body weight if you did. It even means having to pee so much more than the average person would when you drink too. You can also have other issues as well, such as cholesterol or heart issues, even if you are really skinny.

Nobody’s body is perfect. All sizes, shapes, and differences should be appreciated. Everyone has their own issues and is built uniquely. So let’s embrace each other and build each other up,  it’s the best thing you can do for a person.
