With the weather warming up and school turning towards the final few months, there is only one thing on my mind: spring and summer concert tours! I’m here to let you know which tours you definitely won’t want to miss.
The 1975
With their most recent album, “A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships,” helping them snag this year’s BRIT award for Best British Group, the 1975 are well primed to head into their summer tour. You can catch them here in Richmond at VACU Live on May 22.
The Struts
The Struts seem to have been touring nearly non-stop for the past three years, but they just added a bunch of new dates to their “Young and Dangerous” tour. This group, reminiscent of 70s and 80s rock will keep you dancing the whole night long. You can catch them in Norfolk at the Norva on May 16 or in Washington D.C. at the 9:30 Club on August 7.
Elle King with Special Guest, Barns Courtney
Elle King is a soulful rock and blues artist, who’s hit song, “Ex’s and Oh’s,” seemed to play almost non-stop a couple of years ago. King is heading out on tour with Barns Courtney, a British singer-songwriter whose onstage presence is always unbeatable. This tour will be filled with rock n’ roll energy, and you certainly won’t want to miss it. You can catch both these awesome acts here in Richmond on April 20 at The National.
Young the Giant & Fitz and the Tantrums
Two of everyone’s favorite alternative rock bands are teaming up for an incredible summer tour. What more could you want? You can see Young the Giant & Fitz and the Tantrums here in Richmond at VACU Live on June 25.
Queen with Adam Lambert
After that opening performance at the Oscars, of course you want to go see Queen! While the brilliant and legendary Freddie Mercury is no longer with us, Adam Lambert has stepped up to front Queen for the past few years and has been blowing people away. You can catch Queen with Adam Lambert in Washington DC at Capital One Arena on July 30.
Hozier
We’ve been waiting years for Hozier’s sophomore album, and he’s finally ready to show us his new music. His “Nina Cried Power” EP was a beautiful taste of what we can expect from “Wasteland Baby” and its accompanying tour. You can see Hozier here in Richmond at The Altria Theater on May 23.
Vampire Weekend
Another band we’ve been missing for years, Vampire Weekend, is finally back with new music and a new tour. Their two new singles “Harmony Hall” and “2021” are perfect songs to kick off your summer playlists. The band has confirmed a spring release of their new album, “Father of the Bride,” but hasn’t given an official date. You can see them live in Norfolk at the Constant Convocation Center on August 30.
With all these amazing shows coming up, you’ll want to make sure you’re saving up some money! This spring and summer are sure to be amazing for live music, and you will not want to miss out.
