Since 2014, the popular music festival Lightning In A Bottle has taken place at Lake San Antonio in Bradley, California. Not only has it been a quick one hour drive away for Cal Poly students, but it also has been on Memorial Day weekend, making it easy for students to leave on a long weekend.
But earlier this month, the festival announced it will be taking place May 8-13 instead this year. And not only has the time changed, but also the location. The festival is planning on moving to Lake Buena Vista in Kern County, CA, although the venue isn’t officially reserved yet. The county’s Board of Supervisors met with Dede Fleming, the co-president of Do LaB, the festival’s events production company, on February 12. While the supervisors are optimistic, they have scheduled another meeting to further discuss the possibility of hosting the event on February 26.
As for Lightning In A Bottle fans, there have been some mixed reactions. Some are worried that this change, and its lack of a solidified venue, could bring disaster.

Some people decided to not attend even before the change of dates and location because these changes delayed the lineup release
Updated concert list. I refunded my Lightning in a Bottle ticket because it’s February and they haven’t even dropped phase 1 of the lineup. Lmk if you’re goin to any of these. ?? pic.twitter.com/S3jfpICAWt

The festival will only allow 25,000 attendees, although in the past it has brought in nearly 30,000 guests. There will also a be a zero drug use policy.
What do you think of these changes?
