Lots of people really love the sun, the beach, going for a swim in the pool, getting a tan… But maybe that’s just not for you, right? If you prefer something a little cooler, here are a few places to visit and enjoy your vacation without melting due to the heat of the summer.
1. Ushuaia

Also known as the “end of the world”, Ushuaia is a city in Argentina and capital of the province of Tierra del Fuego. It’s the southernmost city in the world and it’s very windy, so the temperatures are low even in the summer. One of the top attractions is Isla Martillo, where you get to see penguins in their natural habitat — and some sea lions on the way to the island. Lago Escondido and Lago Fagnano are also two stops you have to add to your itinerary, besides the Tierra del Fuego National Park.
2. El CalafateÂ

Just like Ushuaia, El Calafate is part of Argentinian Patagonia. The city is located 80 kilometers from Los Glaciares National Park. Its main attraction is Perito Moreno Glacier and there are many activities focused on appreciating the stunning view: boat trip, trails, ice trekking and kayak. You can also spend time walking around the center of El Calafate. It’s a really cute small city with many stores and great restaurants.
3. Monte Verde

If you’re Brazilian and you’re looking for a closer destination, Monte Verde is a good option. It’s a region of Serra da Mantiqueira (MG), so the high temperatures don’t get there. It’s a really nice spot to relax, but you can also schedule some activities like quadricycle ride and zipline. The downtown is worth a visit too!
 4. GramadoÂ

If adventure is not exactly your thing, Gramado is the perfect choice. This little town is located in Rio Grande do Sul, in the area of Serra Gaúcha. It has many different museums and chocolate factories to visit. Its downtown is really charming and you can’t miss the fondue restaurants!
I hope you have enjoyed it and enjoy the cold weather :)
