Over the MLK holiday weekend I finally got around to watching “Bohemian Rhapsody”. After hearing everyone talk about it for months, I was itching to see it. I already knew going into it that I would like it as I am a fan of Queen’s music. Only minutes into the film, I was completely captured by Freddie Mercury, well Rami Malek, who portrays him. Malek’s portrayal of Freddie Mercury and his immediate star like quality had me hooked! I wanted to know more about him and the story of Queen. Before I knew it, I was singing along to their songs and never wanting the movie to end. The spot-on appearance and idiosyncrasies were crazy to me. The directing, locations, cast, script and music tied the film together so well and made it an extremely enjoyable watching experience. Malek’s performance really did Freddie Mercury the justice he deserves. Not only was he amazing but so was rest of the cast. All the main actors and actresses really brought Queen and Freddie’s story to life. It pains me, just as I know it does to millions of others to see a soul as talented and unique as him to perish to a brutal disease at such a young age. Despite this, I know Freddie’s legacy and unbeatable talent will live on forever. To lifelong and new fans of Queen, this movie was truly amazing and painted a vivid picture of all that Queen accomplished. Their music has and always will continue to enthrall and captivate people around the globe. I hope “Bohemian Rhapsody” opens your eyes and hearts to a beautiful man and an extraordinary band, like it did for me.
