Hello HerCampus readers!
My name is Kathleen Santarelli, and I’m a University of Portland co-correspondent for HerCampus. I recently switched to majoring in Theology, which is a deep passion of mine. In the future, I plan to go into the medical field, as taking care of people is one of my favorite things to do in the world.
I am from Seattle and grew up going to all the libraries and playgrounds in the city. My family fostered my love of reading (and later writing) by bringing me to bookstores often and encouraging me to participate in workshops by 826 Seattle.
When I learned that I could be a part of the UP HerCampus team, I was so excited. It’s been a while since I got to exercise my writing skills for anything other than creative writing – and HerCampus seems like the ideal place for me to write, with its focus on empowerment and social consciousness.
On the topic of writing, though, I think I should mention that this is my third year doing a writing challenge called 365k365days, which is a challenge to write 1000 words of creative work every day. It’s been a blast, and I’ve enjoyed the last two years of it so much that I’m back for Round Three. I hope to one day get one (or more!) of my stories published, but for now I’ll stick to keeping up my writing practice.
See you soon!
Kathleen
