Walking into a sex shop can be very intense and overwhelming. There are so many options in the store as well as online. Looking at the different choices you could choose from, it’s pretty difficult to decide between a dildo, vibrator, bullet, different types of lubricants, etc. which come in various shapes, sizes, colors, and prices.

However, the most intimidating part is not walking into the store but picking the product. In my experience, I looked for the most reasonably priced item in my price range. At first I couldn’t decide between and dildo or a vibrator, so I chose a product that included all in one (I didn’t know that  sex toys with multiple features  existed).

When it came time to make a purchase, it wasn’t an awkward encounter at all. I was quite pleased with my purchase and the cashier even offered me some batteries to go with my purchase! I was nervous my first time, but these tips can help you make a successful first purchase!

 

1. Never be afraid to ask questions about the product or how it works.

The employees are your friends. After all, they chose to work in this industry and oftentimes are excited about explaining what certain products entail.

 

2. No one cares what you are buying or who you are buying it for.

It’s a sex shop. We’re all in there for the same reasons.

 

3. Know the size you are looking for.

Size doesn’t always matter!!

 

4. Research each product and brand.

Before you purchase you’re toy of choice, make sure you know a little bit about different products.

 

5. Feel free to buy more than one.

The more the merrier!

 

6. Don’t be afraid to be creative with colors

Why wouldn’t you go with the pink glittering dildo over boring flesh toned one?

 

7. Don’t forget about lube!!!!

Lube is always your best friend.

 

8. Be optimistic.

This is supposed to be a fun learning experience to find what pleases you.

 

9. Research self-care and cleaners for your toy.

No one enjoys a bacterial infection, especially in your lady parts.
