Tyra Banks, iconic model, book author, and the creator of America’s Next Top Model has to decided to join another aspect of the business world. Earlier this week, Tyra Banks announced that she’ll be opening up an amusement park later on in the year. The theme park’s name, Modelland, was also the name of her 2010 young adult novel which was based on her life. So what could possibly be happening at this theme park based on modeling?? Well here some things you need to know.
The fabulous theme park is going to be located in Santa Monica Place. Reportedly, it will be a multi-level 21,00 square feet space. According to Tyra Banks, the theme park will also have retail stores, dining destinations, interactive entertainment, and even clothing for guest to wear. The clothing for guests will be created by Hollywood designers and stylists. Ms. Banks also expressed that Modelland’s main focus is to celebrate all types of beauty. She told Variety Magazine that “Modelland is not just a place to us; it’s a movement.”
While speaking to Variety Magazine, Tyra Banks also makes valid points when speaking on the beauty and validation of individuals who may not feel seen. She says, “Modelland will empower them to embrace, celebrate and adorn their own unique beauty in ways they never thought possible.” The idea of Modelland can be a great concept for many people to visit. The never-ending idea of wanting to feel beautiful, accepted, and empowered will be the basis of why people will be visiting her theme park.
Not only was the idea of celebrating beauty her inspiration for this theme park, but also the attractions from other theme parks as well. While interviewing with Variety, she says that, “I’ve always been insanely inspired by the attraction like Disneyland and Universal Studios and have wanted to bring that spirit of adventure and storytelling to the world of modeling. But not the exclusive modeling industry. I’m talking about modeling for the masses.” This project has supposedly been in the works for about ten years. Even though I probably won’t be able to visit the theme park when it opens, I’m excited to see the turn out.
