Thrift shopping has become a really popular trend this past couple of years, and I hope it’s one to stay. Thrifting has so many benefits, not only is it good for your wallet but also the environment, fashionable versatility and it just makes a fun experience. For those of you who still aren’t on board let me break it down for you.

1. You save your money

We all know the struggle when you have a big event coming up but nothing in your closet satisfies you. You’ve been eyeballing the clothes you wanted to order all week, but your wallet is looking pretty bare. That fifty dollars you were saving towards your outfit starts to look more like fifteen because by the end of the week you realize you spent all your money on textbooks, food and other necessities. That’s when you hop in the car and head to the thrift store to see what gems you can find.

2. No more awkward “Twinning” incidents

Nothing is more awkward than waiting to wear something you just got from the mall, then when you finally get the chance to wear it, you see everyone else is too. Most of the time you rarely see anyone else with clothes you get from the thrift store.

3. The experience

Lastly, one of the best things about thrift shopping is the adventure itself, walking through those doors with only ten dollars and coming out with a couple of new outfits. When you walk into a thrift store you literally never know what you will find. Maybe you were looking for a pair of blue jeans, but you come out with blue jeans, some twenty-five cent glassware and a wool sweater. I mean Macklemore made a whole song about it, it’s bound to be a good time.
