** SPOILER ALERT**
Â
If you are reading this article, STOP! Go to Netflix and start watching You right away. I promise if you keep reading, I will spoil all of its craziness.
Â
If you in-tune with what is necessary, then you have already watched the new Netflix series, You. If you are like me, you have already watched it 3 times and are thoroughly shook. With all of the buzz the show has been creating and with the recent announcement that Netflix will be creating a 2nd season, there are so many interesting theories about what is going to happen. There are so many floating questions: What happened to Mr. Mooney? What Happened to Beck? What is going on with Candice? Why is this show so creepy but so addictive? I don’t think any can answer that last one, but I can at least share some of the many many interesting fan theories.
Â
Â
What is the deal with Mr. Mooney?
Â
It became be obvious that Joe and Mr. Mooney relationship was/is abusive, manipulative, and played a big role in Joe’s insanity. While he was a big part of Joe’s teenage years, his idea of mentoring involved locking Joe in a giant glass box in the basement of the bookstore he owned. This is no doubt this is where Joe got the idea when he kidnapped both Benji and Beck. When Joe kills his first victim, the man that Candice was sleeping with, Mr. Mooney consoles his by saying the chilling line, “Some people deserve to die.” Many fans believe that Joe was responsible for putting Mr. Mooney in his severely disabled state. While Joe explains to Beck that Mr. Mooney suffered from a bad stroke, it does seem awfully suspicious that someone who knew so much about Joe’s dirty past can no longer tell anyone.
Â
It’s clear that they have some sort of creepy Dexter-esqe relationship, so why would Joe hurt his mentor? Well, there could be many reasons. It is theorized that Mr. Mooney was a serial killer and a psychopath, so maybe he tried to kill Joe and he retaliated. Maybe Joe got shoved into the glass box one too many times and it set him off. Hopefully, we will get some answers in season 2.
Â
What is up with the whole Candace thing?
Â
Candice walking into the bookstore during the last episode was a jaw-dropper. Candace was clearly a big part of Joe’s life and her being back in the picture can cause of a lot of (additional) drama. Many fan theories have sprouted from her emergence. The first is that she is a hallucination. Joe spent the last few episodes having weird hallucinations of Candace, so this could just be another one of his crazy spells. This is probably the easiest explanation for her appearance. Another common theory is that Joe thought he killed Candice and now she is back to wreak havoc on his life someone how. This is a more interesting theory but it raises a lot of questions. Why would Candice come back and not go to the police? Maybe Joe has some dirt on her. How was she so active on Instagram? Who knows.
Is Beck Really Dead? Â
In the You community, there have been many rumors that Beck is not dead. It is probably more wishful thinking because this theory has the most holes. The main theory is that the body that was found in Dr. Nicky’s property was actually Ron’s and Joe was able to convince the authorities that it is Benji’s body by placing his teeth with the decomposing body. Then in Beck’s book, she explained that she discovered that Dr. Nicky killed Benji. As I said, it a fat stretch because Ron and Benji had very different bodies, and things like DNA and autopsies exist. But you must admit it would be an interesting plot twist.
Â
What will happen to Paco in season two?
Â
At the end of season one, little Paco is seen leaving New York with his newly sober mother… so happy ending for him? Well, many fans think it’s too soon to give that sign of relief. Paco was such a big part of season one and was the only part about Joe that seemed human and genuine. So it does seem unlikely that he will just disappear forever. Also, Paco knows about both Ron and Beck which a lot of iporant information for a child to hold onto. Some fans think that Joe will end up killing Paco because he can’t be trusted to keep his secrets. Others think that Paco will grow up to be Joe 2.0, cringe. Bottom line is I denfinitely think Paco will be making an appearance or two in the coming season.
Â
Â
I think it is safe to say that many people are in anticipation of season two. Let’s hope that Netflix does not disappoint.
