If you’re like me, carrying some sort of bag from a designer Louis Vuitton bag to a standard cross body bag helps keep you feeling secure everywhere you go. I feel like we all need to carry the bare essentials in order to make trips on the go much easier. We all need those basic must-haves to keep in our purse, like a cell phone or feminine products. Yes, of course those are basic items we already know to keep in our bag. I’m talking about things you haven’t thought about yet. I’m not going to tell you the basic things everyone knows about, I’m bringing a twist on your everyday bag items!
1. Snacks, Snacks, and Snacks

No matter where you are, it is important to have a snack. Whether it be a banana, gummy bears or crackers. Having something to sooth your hunger will keep you prepared for anything. One of my go-to snacks to have in my purse is a granola bar especially Lara Bars. Those bars have four ingredients and are very filling. Another snack recommendation would be fruit like an apple or banana. They contain vitamins and keep you energized for hours. Imagine you are waiting patiently in a waiting room, and your stomach growls. Embarrassing right? Having that snack in your purse will keep you from getting too hungry. We don’t always have time to grab lunch, so having a snack is convenient for times when you’re at the doctor’s office and unable to grab a bite to eat. If not, your blood pressure might drop and we wouldn’t want you to faint because you forgot to eat lunch!
2. A Journal and Pen

I love writing, so I have to bring my personal journal everywhere and anywhere. If you’re anything like me, then you have to bring a notebook and pen to write and dot down ideas. I have to bring a journal wherever I go because I get my best thoughts and inspiration at the most random times. Plus its convenient for studying. You can go over your notes for that Biology test coming up or even create a to-do list. Personally, I am more motivated to do the things on my to-do list when I write it down. I am able to finish things quicker and tend to not procrastinate especially if it’s a long list of things to do. Having a few pens is also quite useful! You can write in your planner, or write a check. When you have a planner and a pen, you are more motivated to finish that to-do list! And who knows, you might get inspired to write a new story.
3. A Good Book
I don’t know about you, but I’m a sucker for a good book especially a young adult book. I am currently reading a book called After by Anna Todd, which is the first book of the After series. It’s an original story from Wattpad, and its being made into a movie which is coming out in 2019. I’m so excited to watch it! It was one of the first book I read on Wattpad and it was an original fan-fiction about Harry Styles. Reading a good book is a therapeutic experience. Plus, reading makes us smarter and it’s a great way to pass time between classes. There’s nothing better than having a good book and getting lost in its plot.
4. SPF, SPF, and More SPF

We all know the sun is pretty damaging, but have you ever thought about carrying a travel sized sunscreen? As you all know, California is a sunny state and with that comes pros and cons. It’s smart to have sunscreen especially travel size so you could reapply every two hours to keep that sunburn away. Don’t forget to retouch your sunscreen every two hours. Sunscreen is important because it also helps to prevent premature aging.
5. A Portable Charger:

I know I’m not the only one who uses every bit of their phone battery and will not get up until the battery hits 1%. I remember countless times when my phone was on the edge of dying and I left my charger either in the car or on my dresser. With a portable charger, you will be able to access maps in case you get lost and if there is car trouble, you’ll never be stranded without a phone to call for help.
Everyone has different preferences, but these are some essential items most people I feel haven’t considered. I’m here to make sure you’re next trip to the store a little bit easier. Add these essentials to your bag so you can be ready for any situation!
