Just about two weeks before the infamous Harvard-Yale, Sex Week 2018 *came* to an end after an explosive week of interactive workshops, panels, giveaways, and more. Thanks to various sponsors like Good Vibes, Cal Exotics, SHARC, and SHEATH, the week was fruitful in freebies and education.
Like various other events, “Talk Dirty to Me: A Dirty Talk How-To” was lead by a Good Vibes educator. This event was lead by Aria, and she was great. She even pulled from her experiences on giving erotica workshops to lead an interactive workshop on dirty talking. Let’s go over some big points!
1. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. As Aria put it, we’re living in a time now where we sort expect people to know everything, making it harder to feel okay asking questions. Don’t be afraid to ask your partner if they like something. Don’t be afraid to ask your partner what they like. It’s like ordering one pizza to split between two: you can’t order something you’ll both enjoy unless you communicate.
2. Yes/No/Maybe. This is a great method to exploring things with your partner. Ask them what they like and what they’re comfortable with. Make a little chart and put marks in for each item for the both of you. Where you overlap, great! This way, you can share an idea of things you’d like to do more or try out and what you’re not comfortable with.
3. Dirty talking is basically personalized erotica. It’s really improv! This is why it’s hard to talk dirty on the spot without anything to build off of. When you’re dirty talking with your partner, treat it like a personalized erotica for you and them. So, remember the things they like, the things they’re willing to explore, and what you want the end result to be. You can talk dirty to tease, to entertain, to have sex, or a myriad of other things.
4. Remember not to just jump in. Some people might be turned off by dirty talking that seems random or uncalled for. Of course, it can totally be the other way around, but be mindful of when, where, and how you’re about to do some dirty talking.
5. Learning more? Aria suggests reading some erotica to get a good feel for some good talking. After all, art is imitation, right?
