4 Habits to Pick up this Semester

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bryn Mawr chapter.

If you’re anything like me, then you tend to get swept up in the stress of school and work and often forget to take time for yourself. This is pretty common, especially around Bryn Mawr. Here are some suggestions on habits to form this year that’ll ensure health and stability.

Mindful Thinking and Meditation

This is one of the most important yet overlooked habits for people in college. It’s important to take time away from life to reflect on each day and relax. There are several apps and websites that can help you in starting this. Once practiced regularly, even for a few minutes a day, you’ll start feeling calmer and stronger!

Journaling

Journaling is another excellent way to clear your mind and decompress after long days. Whether you write little notes to yourself or dedicate an entire journal to writing about your feelings and days, make sure to take some time to let everything in your head out onto paper.

Exercising

This is the one that everybody intends to do, but almost never does. It’s so important to get moving, especially after sitting in classes all day. Even if you just take an evening walk around campus or hit the gym for an hour, make sure you stay active and healthy through all your studying and working!

Dinner with Friends

Even though we all live so close, it’s easy to lose touch with friends, especially during times in the semester when stress is high. Make it a habit to schedule weekly dinners with friends; this way, you can all take a break from work and catch up!
