Tips for a Great Homecoming Week

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at GSU chapter.

Whether you’re a freshman, senior, or anything in between–we can all agree that Homecoming Week is such an exciting time. There’s tailgates, a football game, lots of alumni to network with, parades, and altogether a weekend full of fun.

As a freshman though, the thought of it all can be a little intimidating. Nervous or not sure how to make the best of it? Not to fear.

Actually Go

Staying in your dorm with ramen and Netflix might be tempting, but homecoming is actually a great experience everyone should enjoy with friends. Have an open mind and step out of your comfort zone a little. Plus there’s free stuff and a lot of it to go around. And who doesn’t like free stuff?

Stay Hydrated

Drinking water can be hard, but it’s absolutely necessary. There will most likely be A LOT of walking. Fun walking, but walking nonetheless. To ensure that you don’t pass out, bring a refillable water bottle with you and wear sunscreen if needed. Wearing a flannel or light windbreaker around your waist in case it gets chilly is a good idea as well.

Get Your Work Done

Although the festivities only last but a weekend, getting behind in school work is a lot easier than we’d think. Getting your homework, essays, or what have you done beforehand will save you tons of stress!

Be a Proud Panther

Wear your school spirit because white and blue are the best colors..duh!

PARTY!

The main purpose of HOCO is for students to have fun! An after-party for the football game is the perfect chance to pull out that little black dress and let loose! Don’t be afraid to show off those dance moves you’ve been working on.

Remember to stay safe and stick with friends.

Overall, homecoming week will probably be one of the best weeks on campus, so make the most of it!
