Raise your hand if you are as shocked as me that it is already mid-October. It’s crazy. Summer has come and gone once again and we no longer have to complain about how hot it is (well hopefully soon we won’t have to at least) and now we can get ready for sweater weather! I am so excited for boots, sweaters, and beanies. If there is anytime to love Northeastern Pennsylvania it would be in the fall. There are an abundance of activities just asking for cute Instagram candids.
1. Roba’s
Roba’s is a family owned pumpkin patch located in Dalton, PA. It is just about 15 minutes from Scranton’s campus and it’s a great place to have a nice fall day. They have a corn maze, petting zoo, and even apple picking in the beginning of September. It is a family owned place so it has a very homey feel to it. You are bound to have a nice fall filled day when visiting here. I grew up going here and would not want it any other way.
2. Reaper’s Revenge
Now if you’re ready to be a little scared I would recommend Reaper’s. It is a haunted hayride attraction located in Scranton right off of 81. People dress up and jump out during the ride and you can’t help but scream!
It can be a bit pricey but they have great student discounts on designated days! Get ready to have a fright when coming here! Get spooky!
3. Millers Orchard
Miller’s Orchard is another family based farm in Clarks Summit, PA. About 10 minutes from campus, they offer apple picking, a pumpkin patch, and homegrown produce! It’s a great place to spend the day with friends and family trying to get into the fall spirit.
4. First Friday Downtown
Now I know this is something that happens monthly right in the heart of downtown, but why not take in the last few warm nights and take a stroll. First Friday provides small business owners and artists to express their specialties and show Scranton what they’re made of. Most businesses also provide free food (who doesn’t want that?!). Hop downtown the first Friday of each month and enjoy what our city has to offer.
5. Eastern State Penitentiary
This is a little bit of a drive from campus but it’s worth it. Located in Philadelphia, there is a real haunted prison. With six different sections to choose from, you won’t leave without being terrified! Each section has a different theme that will attract anyone. If you’re trying to get into the Halloween spirit this is the place to go!
Stay spooky ladies xoxo,
