Trying the latest wellness and beauty trends is my daily pursuit, but I was late on the beauty band wagon for dry brushing if I am going to be honest. I CAN BE LAZY. I finally bought a dry brush after reading about it everywhere and after the one and only Kourtney Kardashian raved about I had to buy it. I loved the idea about it and was so excited to use it but after purchasing it I didn’t touch for a good month.
Â
I was extremely excited to use it but when I started to experiment with it, it hurt! It made me upset because everyone swore by this brush but all that went through my head is “what’s the use of this brush”. So finally, I hit the books and started doing some research, watching videos, reading more articles, and learning the proper way to use this damn brush. Fair warning, it will hurt the first couple times, I have extremely sensitive skin, but after doing it for some time and getting down a good technique I fell in love and make sure it’s in my weekly regimen.

THE 101 ON DRY BRUSHING
Dry Brushing is simply brushing your body with a brush filled with firm bristles in an upward motion always toward your heart. Dry brushing goes hand in hand with your lymphatic system, which is a network of vessels where your lymph drains from the tissues into the blood. It’s SO important not only because it affects your skin but it helps your immune system and helps detoxify from toxins and waste. This is important because it helps your body run more effectively! Dry brushing helps you get that glowing and toned skin. Did I get your attention back now? Increasing the circulation to the skin can reduce the appearance of cellulite, it helps shed dead skin cells, which results in smoother and brighter skin and also help with ingrown hairs. It even helps with muscle toning and gives you a more even distribution of fat deposits aiding in weight loss.
The great thing about dry brushing is that it is much cheaper, easier, and convenient compared to other treatments that give you the same results like lymphatic massages or liposuction. Once you incorporate this into your routine, you’ll notice brighter, detoxifies, and even-toned skin.

I dry brush before I shower every day. I take the brush on my body, start from my toes and make way up, ALWAYS brushing towards my heart. Always make sure to brush in an upward motion until you reach your chest, and then follow with a circular motion. Pro tip: start with small strokes so you can get used to the bristles, as they can get a bit abrasive.
Â
After a month, I promise you will see results. Not only will you feel and look better, but you won’t let the brush go! It’s a great way to glow and tone yourself and just overall help your body from the inside out!
