Starbucks did not just recently come into my life, but has been there for ages. Obviously I sound so basic, but there’s really no comparison in the coffee industry other than Dunkin Donuts; who by far has the best iced coffee – sorry Starbucks! But my sister helped open the Greengate location in Greensburg, PA more than 10 years ago and I always looked up to my sisters and wanted to be just like them. Well, here we are – and it’s not as bad as it may seem. Although, there are frequent cases that have everyone under stressful circumstances, sometimes it’s just the fact that people can be so mean.

It sounds horrible, but before I got into the food industry I never really thought about the person behind the counter-only as someone taking my order. Of course I would always be super respectful and grateful for them, but I didn’t think twice about how their perception of me could be misconstrued from word choices or even body language from perhaps just a really bad day.

In Mexico and especially Taiwan, Starbucks is the same in the mastrenas and tools used to make the coffee-but it’s different everywhere you go which I think is an amazing experience that everyone should experience. So I began training in May this year and I just wanted to share some secrets with you that will make ordering at Starbucks way easier and a lot more fun!

HOW TO ORDER LIKE A BARISTA

1. You don’t have to know exactly what you want, you can always ask for suggestions and recommendations.

2. If you’re ordering a secret menu drink, give us the recipe or we will have no idea what you’re talking about.

3. Just speak clearly and loud enough, especially through the drive in window when ordering.

 

EXAMPLES OF DELICIOUS DRINKS WITHOUT COFFEE & WITH CAFFEINE

1. Any refresher (very berry, mango dragonfruit and strawberry açaí)

2. All of our teas except the passion tango tea

3. Matcha green tea latte

4. Pink drink with matcha

1. Caramel Apple Spice

2. Vanilla bean creme

3. Seriously strawberry frappe (with purée mixed in)

4. Passion tango tea

5. Pumpkin spice creme frappuccino

6. All the creme frappuccinos
