Entertainment: What to Look Forward to This Fall

We look forward to the return of fall for a lot of reasons, pumpkins, apple picking, pumpkin spice flavored everything, etc. We also look forward to an entire new round of TV shows to binge, music to listen to, and movies to see! Here’s a look at some of the new shows, albums, and movies coming to you this season.

 

TV:

FBI (CBS)

From the executive producer who brought us favorites like Law and Order: SVU and Chicago Fire, coming to CBS this fall is a new drama focusing on the FBI New York office.  It is centered around two special agents that tackle issues like terrorism, gangs, and other forms of organized crime. Premiering Tuesday, September 25th at 9pm.

Happy Together (CBS)

When a famous pop star connects with thirty-something, suburban living Claire and Jake, he is drawn to their simple lifestyle and unexpectedly moves in with the couple. Along the way, they reconnect with the younger, early twenties lifestyle that still lives within them. Amber Stevens West (22 Jump Street and New Girl) and Damon Wayans Jr. (Big Hero 6 and New Girl) star in this new CBS comedy premiering Monday October 1st.

A Million Little Things (ABC)

A group of friends from Boston, bond in an elevator one afternoon that has been stuck for hours and remain close, all coming from different backgrounds. Each going through personal struggles, they have each other. When one takes his own life, they realize that they need each other now more than ever. This drama premieres Wednesday September 26th.

The Rookie (ABC)

Nathan Fillion (Castle) makes his return to ABC in a whole new way in this upcoming cop thriller about a simple guy looking to start over. John Nolan is looking for a fresh start and is starting with his career path as a rookie cop training under the LAPD. Faced with being the oldest among the rookies, he must prove his abilities to keep up with the other officers as well as the criminals he must take down. The Rookie will air on Tuesday October 16th.

Single Parents (ABC)

Taran Killam (Saturday Night Live) and Leighton Meester (Gossip Girl) star in a new comedy about a group of single parents with kids in the same kindergarten class who take the newly single Will (Killam) under their wing and show him how to take on the challenges that single parenting presents itself with. This comedy will air on Wednesday September 26th.

Carrie Underwood: Cry Pretty

She’s back and more honest than ever! Carrie Underwood has released her 6th studio album, Cry Pretty. Featuring the hit title track “Cry Pretty”, and “Love Wins”, Carrie once again graces her listeners will her melodic voice and unimaginable high notes in most if not all of the tracks on this album.

 

 

 

Cher: Dancing Queen

Releasing her 26th studio album, Cher makes her return with an album that consists entirely of ABBA covers amidst the success of this summer’s hit, Mama Mia: Here We Go Again! Cher told Billboard her appreciate and love for ABBA over the years and wanted to honor the Swedish pop group in a new way. Dancing Queen will be released on September 28th.

 

The 1975: A Brief Inquiry into Online Relationships

The alternative/pop band is making its return with a new album available starting November 30th. Featuring hits like “TooTimeTooTimeTooTime” and “Love It If We Made It”, A Brief Inquiry into Online Relationships will follow the success of their 2016 project I Like It When You Sleep, For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware of It.

 

Lil Wayne: Tha Carter V

The next installment of Lil Wayne’s Carter albums is ready to go and has been for a while. Lil Wayne completed the project back in 2014 but has been in a legal contractual dispute under Cash Money Records. Now free, the project will be released sometime this coming fall. Lil Wayne’s last album from the Carter installments was released in 2011, and fans have been long awaiting the newest addition.

 

Alessia Cara: The Pains of Growing

Cara climbed the charts back in 2015 and she’s back and ready to do it again with her upcoming sophomore album The Pains of Growing. The already released single “Growing Pains” has fans relating to her more than ever and very excited for her next project. The release date is TBA, but Cara promises fans it will be released sometime this fall.

Movies:

White Boy Rick

Based on a true story, Matthew McConaughey and Richie Merritt star alongside each other in the story about the youngest FBI informant and drug hustler in American history. Taking place in Detroit in the 1980s, the film focuses Richie Wershe Jr. who was a 15 year old kid selling drugs in order to make a living for himself and his family, who then working under the FBI and ultimately found himself arrested for drug trafficking. This film will be in theaters everywhere September 14th.

A Star Is Born

Bradley Cooper directs and stars alongside Lady Gaga in this upcoming film about a washed up singer (Cooper) who helps a rising singer realize her potential and talent (Gaga) even as his own career and personal life is sent in a downward spiral. This film will be released October 5th.

First Man

On July 20, 1969, Neil Armstrong was the first man in all of history to step foot on the moon. In this biopic, Ryan Gosling portrays the first astronaut and human to ever step foot on the moon and the mission that it took to get there. First Man will be in theaters October 12th.

Bohemian Rhapsody

The long-awaited film focusing on one of the greatest bands in rock n’ roll history is finally hitting theaters. The legend of Queen is hitting the big screen, and the story of how they rose to fame as well as the lifestyle of front man Freddie Mercury (portrayed by Rami Malek). Fans of Queen, rock n’ roll, and music fans in general have been waiting for this film for a long time and are finally going to get the chance to see it November 2nd.

Creed II

Michael B. Jordan and Sylvester Stallone star alongside one another in the second installment of the Creed series. Taking place in our very own Philadelphia, Adonis Creed is defending his title against an opponent that reaches Creed on a personal and familial level. Assisted by Rocky Balboa, Creed trains and prepare himself for the fight of his life. Creed II will be hitting theaters November 21st.
