The Essentials: Back to College

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UTRGV chapter.

1. School Supply Ready:

It’s that time of the year again! Yes, you guessed it, it’s back-to-school season, which means that all of your favorite stores have your back with all the school supply deals! Make sure to stock up on some fun pens, pencils, and notebooks that will make your note-taking much more appealing. And of course, it’s never a bad idea to have a daily planner to sort out your schedule and due dates.

2. Style and Comfort:

We all know that after the first week back, every college student gives up on trying to play dress up, and instead turn to those comfy shorts, tee shirts, and running shoes we all adore. But, every once in a while, it’s fun to bring some style back into the class room and put that little bit of extra effort into our #OOTD (Outfit of the Day). So, go ahead and have a little shopping spree, we won’t tell!

3. Room and Safe-space Décor:

Whether you are living on campus or commuting from your home, your room is usually the go-to place for studying and homework, so it’s a must to make it as comfortable yet creative as possible. Wall décor is a fun and easy way to make your room come alive, while you keep the rest of the room feeling comfy and calming with some soft, fluffy pillows and soothing color combinations.

4. Snacks: The struggle is real when you’re trying to pay for all those expensive textbooks while trying to save money to keep yourself fed in college. Most students are quick to go and spend their money on that Venti Starbucks Frappuccino with their left-over budget, but the trick is to stock up on easy yet tasty snacks that will last you much longer than an eight-dollar drink.

5. Mindset:

A very important essential, if not the most vital, is to have a positive and strong mindset. It can definitely be easy to get caught up in all the fun activities happening on campus, but there has to be a balance between fun and learning. Keep yourself motivated to get

those papers in on time, or to finish all your home-work before the deadline. You will be thanking yourself at the end of the semester when you get those passing grades, and you will still have those fun experiences without having to sacrifice your learning
