Last Sunday was the first time I had ever been to Trader Joe’s. I know, you’re probably looking at this like…
But, this is my first time cooking at college, since as for the past two years I have been on a full-time meal plan. Now as I am living in an apartment, I am looking for budget-friendly places for groceries.
For the longest time people have been telling me all about Trader Joe’s and for the longest time I did not understand the hype.
So, I decided one Sunday that my best friend and I should check it out.
And it was better than imagined. It was an upgrade from Kroger but a cheaper Whole Foods that is friendly to my college student budget. What shocked me more is that I was able to find ground turkey for $2.99 (just flat-out $2.99, no per pound stuff). Great quality food and well in my budget, is this what love feels like?
Going to Trader Joe’s allowed me to stay well within the budget my parents have given me for groceries that week and even had a little extra leftover. My total for my trip was $20.33 and I had gotten a decent number of items, and if I went somewhere else it may had cost me more.
I can’t wait for my next trip to Trader Joe’s. What am I going to try next? The Orange Chicken or their infamous Cookie Butter.
