And ten years later it’s time to see Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again, the sequel of the movie based on the famous Broadway musical. This time, the film shows Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) at the reopening of the hotel she inherited from her mother, Donna (Meryl Streep). In addition, the young woman wants to know more about the past of her mom, who in the 70’s lived many adventures with her musical group.

The young Donna (Lily James) also had intense relationships with three very different men: Harry (Colin Firth\Hugh Skinner), Sam (Pierce Brosnan\Jeremy Irvine) and Bill (Stellan SkarsgĂĄrd\Josh Dylan).

The film delights in the musical scenes, scenarios and costumes. And it has an optimistic atmosphere like the first. Mamma Mia 2 has two timelines, but it’s all very well done. The story flows well between past and present, creating beautiful transitions between Donna and Sophie.

Overall, the movie is very funny with a dose of ABBA, just like the original musical. The highlight goes to the chapel scene, which shows a beautiful duet of Donna and Sophie, who left many people (including us) crying.

It’s hard to find any negative points in this film, but what we can complain about is seeing very little of Meryl Streep on the scene, since most of the scenes show the past of the main character, lived in her younger version by Lily James, who performed brightly.

Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again also has some continuity errors, but everything is so captivating that it does not get in the way. Of course, the best musical number in the movie is when the whole cast joins in to sing the title song.

For us, Mamma Mia has already won the title of the funniest movie of the year, it is meant to laugh, cry and be enchanted. And another little secret: there’s a post-credit scene that’s worth waiting to see.
