Although Netflix is usually the first streaming service people think of, there are so many other great ones out there. Hulu is one that I’ve been getting more into recently. Plus, you can get it free with Spotify Premium for Students! Here are some titles that are great to binge-watch on Hulu:

The O.C.
Created by the executive producer of Gossip Girl, Josh Schwartz, The O.C. aired from 2003-2007. All four seasons are available to watch on Hulu; they detail the lives of five main teenagers that live in affluent Orange County, California. Issues of class, romance, surviving high school and friendships are all dealt with in this show. It’s been compared to one of my favorite shows, One Tree Hill, so I’ve been meaning to watch!
This Is Us
This Is Us is heartbreaking and uplifting at the same time; I’ve cried at almost every episode I’ve watched, and not only out of sadness. Three families are the focus of the show, and the characters that make up these families are connected and interwoven in a really engaging way. Parallels of time between the families also add nuance. For Gilmore Girls fans like me, Milo Ventimiglia plays Jack, one of the main characters, so definitely check it out!
The Handmaid’s Tale
A Hulu original that’s based on the novel of the same title by Margaret Atwood, The Handmaid’s Tale chronicles the life of a woman named Offred, who lives in the dystopia of Gilead. In a society in which women serve as tools for reproduction and not much else, Offred must navigate the harrowing political and gender dynamics that hold up her world while searching for her kidnapped daughter. It’s won five Emmys, and is praised by fans alike.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine
A sitcom on FOX that I’ve been meaning to watch, Brooklyn Nine-Nine is about a detective named Jake Peralta, played by Andy Samberg of Saturday Night Live fame. As someone used to not following the rules and still possessing the highest arrest record, Jake is in for a huge change when a stricter boss is hired. The show is on its fifth season, meaning there’s tons of content to binge-watch!
The Bold Type
With just one season so far, The Bold Type is a quick watch that’s filled with empowered women following their ambition in terms of their careers, relationships and personal fulfillment. It’s on Hulu and was originally on Freeform (formerly known as ABC Family). Centering on the lives of Jane, Sutton and Kat, this show details how the women move through working at a magazine quite similar to Cosmopolitan, while also attempting to balance the other aspects of their lives. I binge-watched this over winter break, and I definitely recommend it!
These are just a few of the many great shows Hulu has to offer; go check some of them out!
