Kendrick Lamar’s creativity and talent have been of great talk for years now, but always with some controversy never too far behind them. Lamar has 12 Grammy’s  and an overall award count of 87 with 222 nominations and now the rapper has one more tremendous accomplishment to add to his list: a Pulitzer Prize for his double platinum album ‘Damn’. The Pulitzer board first began awarding the prize to musicians in the 1940’s, beginning with William Schuman and then 50 years later moved  into other genres such as jazz. While many believe that the prize has lost it’s meaning due to the variety among its recipients, it is still a considerable achievement and is helping establish further respect for modern music.

Our generation knows that Kendrick didn’t need a Pulitzer to prove that he’s an incredible artist, but maybe it will help prove it to others that art comes in vast forms and faces.
