7 Reasons Why My Dad Is My Best Friend

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SMCVT chapter.

First off, I want to say that I would not be anywhere near the person I am today without the guidance, support, and love from my father. He has taught me so much these past 19 years and I don’t think saying “thank you” is enough to express how much I appreciate him for being such a fundamental part of my life. Wish me luck finding a man that will love and care for me as much as my dad does for my mom and our family. So thank you dad for being my best friend.

  1. He has managed to put up with my crazy, stubborn self (which in itself deserves an award)

  1. Not only has he managed to put up with me, but he has never given up on me (even if it feels like I should give up he always gives me reasons to keep moving forward)

  1. He has always been my shoulder to cry on (whether it’s having my heart broken or getting cut from a sports team)

  1. He has taught me to always look at the positive side of things and be understanding of others

  1. He has always been my #1 fan (whether it’s on the basketball/volleyball court or at an academic competition, he is always there cheering me on)

  1. I can call him at any point of the day or night and he will always pick up (even if he’s on a business call or if its 4 am)

  1. He has always pushed me to be the best possible version of myself (he has never let me settle to be a mediocre athlete or student)

Love you always dad!
