Easter break is a whole month long which gives you the perfect opportunity to travel around Europe with your friends. We’ve found five amazing cities that students will love if they’re stressed out about coursework and exams or are in need of some vitamin D!
It’s possible to find a cheap flight ticket to somewhere close in Europe for three nights in a simple yet homey area for less than £100, so if you’re desperate to experience another culture or just want to get out of the UK for a bit, keep reading for some awesome Easter break ideas…
1. Paris, France
The world’s most romantic city housing (in my opinion) the world’s greatest museum with the famous Mona Lisa and the Sainte Chapelle, which has the most beautiful stained glass that your eyes will ever see, especially when sunlight hits these windows in just the right spot.
I travelled to Paris last year with my flatmate and I recommend you visit: the Eiffel Tower (obviously), the Arc de Triomphe, Notre Dame Cathedral, and the Louvre Museum (gotta see Lisa). But also, don’t forget that Paris also has amazing food and wine!
2. Berlin, Germany
Ah Berlin. Such a big city offering a multitude of delights to attract an adventurer. One can view Berlin as the ultimate party place for techno, but another can view it as an outstanding destination for its fascinating history and culture.
If you visit Berlin, you have to see its most recognisable attraction, the Brandenburger Tor. Apparently, the best way to enjoy it is to take a walk through Unter den Linden, which is quite similar to Paris’s Champs-Elysée. With the chestnut trees, variety of shops and amazing museums, it’s considered to be a top tourist attraction.
3. Rome, Italy
Pasta and lots of pizza, am I right? Rome is home to one of the most important nations and empires in history, which gives you plenty to see. One of the most famous fountains in the world, the Trevi Fountain is here and you also get to see Michelangelo’s paintings in the Sistine Chapel. Honestly, history, art, architecture, and Roman ruins; what more can you ask for?
Rome’s concentration of art and historical monuments is way up high in comparison to any other place. Since Rome has a mild climate most of the time, you can visit whenever you like!
4. Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Amsterdam has to be on the list, especially for students studying overseas in the UK. This city is one of the most-hyped cities to visit due to its popular tourist attractions. It’s known for its common red-light districts involving many sex shops, as well as many coffee shops offering legal marijuana.
Amsterdam’s most popular attraction is probably the Anne Frank House or the Van Gogh Museum. Other than these attractions, let’s not overlook Dutch food itself. A foodie’s paradise, everything in Amsterdam looks and (I’ve heard) tastes amazing.
5. Barcelona, Spain
Barcelona is one of the oldest cities in the world, dating back over 2000 years. It’s filled with amazing food and architectural masterpieces that will stun you. It includes one of Spain’s most famous streets, Las Ramblas, which consists of five boulevards, apparently breathtaking during the evening.
If you’re going to visit Barcelona, one must-see is the Picasso Museum.. It has more than 3,500 words providing an exclusive insight into the beauty of the city. Not only are the art, food, and streets amazing, but Barcelona is also home to some of the best beaches in Europe.
So, what are you waiting for? Grab a laptop and book those flights now!
