Stylish Swimsuits You Can Actually Afford

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Illinois chapter.

With spring just around the corner, it’s never too early to start planning for swimsuit season! Even if your Spring Break doesn’t involve the beach, stock up for the summer months ahead. Finding quality, affordable swimsuits that properly fit your body type isn’t always easy. From one pieces to high waisted bottoms to warm tones, here are the swimsuit styles you’ll see most this year that you can actually afford. Happy shopping!

1. One Pieces

One pieces are dominating the swim scene this season! Not only do they come in tons of different styles, patterns and colors, but they are also flattering on so many different body types. If you’re curvy, try looking for one pieces that have small cutouts, and extenuate the part body parts you want to draw attention to. It’s also always a good tip to looking for one pieces with ruching at the waist. However, even if you’re not curvy, go for a one piece will more detailing around the bust and waist to add more shape.

2. High Waisted

High waisted bottoms are perfect for every girl because they slim hips and define waists. The great thing about high waisted bottoms is that you don’t have to have 20 pairs. Buy a solid black pair with cute detailing and throw it on with just about any bikini top! If you’re looking for even more waist definition, check out high waisted bottoms that gather at your hips.

3. Warm Tones

Make your skin pop with warm tones this season! There’s nothing better to complement healthy, glowing summer skin than warm-toned swimsuits. Reds, oranges, yellows and olive-greens can really pop on all skin tones and complement your natural beauty. These tones can be found in virtually any swimsuit style, so start shopping now!

4. Ruffles

Although ruffles can be scary sometimes, don’t let them fool you! Ruffles can actually make a boring swimsuit come to life. The key is to search for swimsuits with ruffles in the right places. Try looking for ruffles along the hips on bottoms and along the straps on tops. This will create the perfect amount of sass, without being too out of control. Try to stray away from too many ruffles around the bust area.

5. Floral

Floral can be so cute, as long as it incorporates complementary colors. Try to look for floral on two piece swimsuit sets, rather than one pieces so that they’re not too distracting. I love how this suit breaks up the pattern and incorporates black lining to add structure. Try breaking up a floral swimsuit by wearing a floral top and a plain bottom. That way, all eyes will be on you and not your crazy suit!
