Here’s some #GirlPower news to get you hyped: Kerry Washington is teaming up with Reese Witherspoon to star in and executive produce a limited series adaptation of Celeste Ng’s best-selling novel, Little Fires Everywhere.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Witherspoon’s company, Hello Sunshine, snatched up the rights to Little Fires Everywhere shortly after its publication last year, and brought it to ABC Signature Studios topper Tracy Underwood. The TV series has yet to find a home, though several premium cable networks and streaming outlets are bidding on the project. The show will be produced by ABC Signature Studios, the cable-focused arm of ABC studios.
Little Fires Everywhere follows the events that unfold when a custody battle erupts over the controversial adoption of a Chinese-American baby divides the wealthy town of Shaker Heights, Ohio — and friends Elena and Mia. According to Ng’s website, Little Fires Everywhere “explores the weight of secrets, the nature of art and identity, and the ferocious pull of motherhood — and the danger of believing that following the rules can avert disaster.”
I don’t know about you, but I am really looking forward to seeing Little Fires Everywhere on screen, and I am SO excited to see these two powerful women together on TV.
