Name:

Hollie Soave

Hometown:

Virginia Beach, VA

Major(s):

Neuroscience with a minor in Biochemistry

Activities on Campus:

Phi Mu, Knitting Club

Describe Yourself in Three Words:

Smiley, passionate and nurturing

Go-To Starbucks Order:

Plain small coffee (I’m boring, I know!)

Favorite Book:

Waiting for Daisy, I love this book because I’m really interested in the field of infertility, and this book is a memoir about a woman who struggled to start her family. This book highlights the intertwining of medicine and human experience, which makes it a great read especially for premeds.

Favorite Movie:

Twilight, we all have a guilty pleasure, right?

What do you like to do in your free time?

I’m definitely more of a homebody, so I spend a lot of time with my family or binge watch Netflix while I work on a knitting project

What’s one thing on your bucket list?

In the eighth grade I made a bucket list and I think the only thing on there I still want to do is save someone’s life.

What is one of your favorite William and Mary memories?

One of my favorite memories was my freshman year when I found out my younger brother got into William and Mary! It was so exciting knowing I’d get to see him on campus- and as an added bonus we’ve taken multiple classes together since then!

What are you planning to do after graduation?

Someday, I’m going to medical school! That day might not be next fall, or the fall after that, but someday I’ll be there. In the more near future, I’ll be interning this summer at my district’s U.S. Representative’s office.

What is one piece of advice you would give to freshmen?

Be yourself! I know that’s so overrated to say, but it’s so easy to lose sight of who you are. No matter what you do or who you pretend to be, there are always going to be people out there who won’t like you- so wouldn’t you rather be liked for who you really are by the people who matter?

What is your favorite thing about William and Mary?

My favorite thing about this school is the quality of education I’m receiving here. I think it’s easy to forget sometimes that your undergraduate career is an investment, a literal financial investment, in your future. William and Mary is an amazing school that has prepared me incredibly well for the career I want to pursue. I am so proud of the degree I’m about to earn from a university that has challenged me to be the best version of myself.

If you were President of the College for a day, what would you do?

I would give all the seniors on campus free Chick-fil-a, to try to make up for the fact that we’re missing the Chick-fil-a coming to campus!! *cue ugly crying*
