Love it or hate it, Instagram is here to stay and most people want a thriving follower-base with a beautiful-looking feed. So if you’re tired of the same old backgrounds you keep using, read on to help your Instagram thrive.
1. Mosaic District
Via Alexis Whitted
Right off of Route 50, this shopping district is buzzing with delicious restaurants and trendy shops. It’s usually decorated for the holidays, and has a few on-aesthetic murals and walls if you’re willing to walk around a bit. These include plain brick walls for those with a clean-looking feed, the above giraffe by Kelsey Montague with such great details, a balloon painting in front of Muse Paintbar, and many more.
2. Old Town Square
Historic Fairfax, only a short drive or a nice bike ride away from campus, is brimming with uniquely textured walls for your next profile pic background or bold selfie. The fountain in the middle of this small historic district is also perfect for cute couple pictures and great for group shots as well! Keep an eye out, as the fountain water is turned on when the weather starts to warm up and you may catch the #LOVEVA sign at certain times of the year.
3. Exploratory Hall Steps
Via Alexis Whitted
I’m convinced these steps can make a great outfit look even better. This location is great for group shots. Located in between the JC and the Hub, it is not necessarily a spot that you would deem perfect for The ‘Gram, but just trust me on this one.
4. Hub Roof
Via Angelique Arintok
This one comes with some risks– as you are literally climbing on to the roof of a building. However, this location makes your photos look super trendy and urban with the rooftop behind you. Plus, you have a great story to tell in your caption! To get to this location, simply go to the top floor of the Hub, out the door and over the barricade. For your sake, we’re seriously hoping this is legal.
5. Magnolia Dessert Bar and Coffee
Via Alexis Whitted
Tucked into the heart of Vienna, this little cafe has everything from traditional Thai entrees to magnificent desserts and lattes. The interior is decorated beautifully, but for the perfect picture, you MUST visit the bathroom. Don’t be surprised if you have to wait a while though; there might be a photoshoot going on inside.
Well collegiettes, now you know about some ideal locations for your next gal pal photoshoot. Some of them tucked away, some a challenge to get to and others ~literally~ right out in the open.
