To My Fellow Introverts,
It’s tough making friends and finding your own clique in college; I’ve been there before–the lonely nights staying inside your dorm binge-watching Riverdale or Parks and Rec, constantly wondering when you’ll meet those “lifelong” friends every Oxford alumni enthuses about; meeting new people and forming friendships with them but keeping your distance because you don’t want to come off as “clingy”; and staying quiet during group discussions or meetings because you’re afraid to speak up.
You are not alone. There are so many other people out there craving new friendships (undoubtedly, with those amazing Oxperiences). They may be hiding out somewhere trying to figure out where they fit in on this campus, or how they’ll survive another year at Oxford. It’s cliché, but I promise that breaking out of your shell and (occasionally) slipping away from your comfort zone will be some of the best decisions you will make on this campus. Never be afraid to be yourself and be open to the changes around you. Things will turn around soon enough.
Much Love,
An Introvert Still Figuring Things Out
