Why did you want to join Her Campus?
It is a space for us women to connect, learn, share ideas and support one another. I consider myself an indo-carribean feminist and we are totally under represented. Im glad I found a space where I can feel comfortable and other women can interact and learn about who I am and where I’m from.
What is the number one thing on your bucket list?
Travel to every single Caribana and Carnival all over the world! I love my culture! We have one in Toronto. It happens every year on the first Saturday of August on the Lakeshore. BE THERE.
What is your dream career?
Starting a non profit organization for Indo-Carribbean girls called I.C.Raw, “Indo Carribbean roses at war” that aims to provide many forms of aid in many different areas for coloured and marginalized young women and all women as I hope to grow this internationally some day.
After a long busy week, what is your go to activity for winding down?
Don’t judge me, NETFLIX. Lol, I also like to spend time practicing meditation, clearing my mind, and keeping a journal. These are great stress relievers as clichĂ© as they sound. They work!Â
It’s a Friday night, where would we find you?
A Soca fete! Yes I have an addiction and this is it!
What do you bring to the table that will help you in your new Exec role with Her Campus?
I love being a woman and I am passionate about what I believe in. I believe that although there has been progression, as women we need to continue to support and help one another grow. We cant give up on each other, and we should always work to empower one another. Her Campus is a place where we can feel comfortable to express ourselves through so many outlets without feeling judged or intimidated by society. I want to poor my passion into a genuine place.
We are so happy to have such an open-minded, passionate, and creative young woman on our team! If you would like to join our team email us at york-u@hercampus.comÂ
