Ā
Born-and-raised Pats fan here. For those of you who are devastated, I get it. We are so #blessed to live during the Tom Brady Era, and because of that we are used to absolute greatness. We have never known a time where the name āNew England Patriotsā didn’tĀ instill fear in every American not from the Northeast. If youāre in the same boat as I am, last Sunday was a rollercoaster of emotions. I laughed, I cried, I screamed, and I loved every second up until the 2-minute-warning.
For those of you who missed it, hereās a recap given by an 18-year-old from Massachusetts of what happened during Super Bowl LII.
Ā
Phase 1: LETāS GO (Tom Brady Style)
Ā
This phase is marked by the start of the game. You get all your friends, haul a futon down the halls of Stoke, and dine on Buffalo Chicken Dip and Guac. At this point everyone is excited to see what the next three hours of your lives hold. All you can think of is Tom vs. Time, and youāre already planning transportation to and from the Parade of Champions in Boston. Pats win the coin toss- weāre off to a good start so far.
Phase 2: the First Half
At this point everyone is aggressively optimistic, that is until we learn that the GOAT canāt catch. Giseleās infamous 2012 quote has proven itself wrong.
This is followed by a moment of silence for Pats receiver Brandon Cooks.
Phase 3: Halftime
The possibility of an NSYNC reunion before our very eyes has everyone on edge. At this time it is proven that OG JT is still the best, and the boy can dance. Then the Prince tribute starts and nobody really knows how to feel about it. (After a week of reflection, Iām still not sure). One thing that is certainā¦. āCanāt Stop the Feelingā is STILL stuck in my head. Iām over it.
Phase 4: Second Half
Ā Ā Ā At this point, everyone is stressed. I am screaming louder than ever because my boy Rob Gronkowski scores. And trust me, I’m an ol’ pro at screamingĀ (I went to a One Direction concert when I was in middle school and had no voice for a week). Gronk shows the world that 1)Ā Heās a beast, and 2.) His dance moves are straight fire. Heās more riled up than ever and I am HERE for it.
Then thereās the fumble heard āround the world. Itās sad. Tears are shed. At this point hearts are pounding and blood pressure is skyrocketing. However, everyone is keeping in mind that the Patriots are the KINGS of comebacks (Flashback to Super Bowl LI)
Phase 5: DenialĀ Ā Ā
(Gronkās reaction to eating Tide Pods is my reaction when the Eags win)
Ā So the Eagles win. Good for themā¦ blah, blah, blah. The room is silent and you can feel the agony of those around you. It hurts. Nobody says a word for at least five minutes and you hear some sniffles. Everyoneās facial expression is similar to that ofĀ Bill Belichick on a good day.
Ā
Phase 6: Relief
You realize #11 will be back next season.
Ā
AND You remember that we have the best looking team in the country. Youāre welcome. Here are some reminders just in case you forgot. Youāre welcome x2. ;)
Here’s to Super Bowl LIII.Ā
