Valentine’s Day can sometimes be a sad day for those of us who are not in a relationship, but I dare to say that it doesn’t have to be that way! Instead of being sad that you don’t have a significant other, be your own significant other. Here are four ways that you can treat yourself this year that are relatively easy and inexpensive.
1. Treat Yourself to a Nice Meal. There are a bunch of places in downtown Spokane that have fantastic food. For brunch, I suggest The Yards. It is the perfect place to find something for all tastes from pancakes to eggs to avocado toast. Their huckleberry pancakes? To die for! For lunch, I suggest Nudo Ramen House. They have ramen and rice bowls as well as their specialty: the ramen burger. I highly suggest going on a very empty stomach, the portions are huge! For dinner, Clover is a great place to go. It is a little more on the expensive side but it is close to campus and very worth every dollar. I have really enjoyed their salads, they include many ingredients and are very filling. For dessert, the Safari Room at the Davenport Tower has shot glass sized desserts for $4. They have something for everyone from chocolate to peanut butter to key lime pie.
2. Go See a Movie. The movie theater at River Park Square is a lot of fun, even by yourself. To be honest, I really enjoy going to the movies by myself. I don’t have to share my snacks with anyone, no one whispers questions at me, it’s amazing. The theater has a 3D IMAX theater where the seats vibrate and move along with the action in the movie, which means you should definitely go see an action packed film. It is a little more expensive than a regular movie ticket but highly worth it. Go grab some buttery popcorn and a sweet treat, get comfortable, and enjoy the ride.
3. Get Your Nails Done. We use our hands every day so every once and a while it is nice to take care of them. The Healing Hut has 5 stars and looks to be the best place to go, though I haven’t been yet. I suggest doing some research to find the best price for the best quality!
4. Make Yourself a Cup of Tea and Watch a Funny Movie with a Soft Blanket. First let’s deal with the tea situation. For something herbal, I suggest Yogi Honey Lavender or the Sweet Tangerine tea. For something caffeinated, I suggest PG Tips black tea with a little milk and sugar. Now, to find a funny movie. There are so many funny movies on Netflix that are worth a watch. Magic Mike, Caddyshack, Hot Fuzz, White Chicks and The Benchwarmers are just a few of my top suggestions! Browse through the comedy section on Netflix and find something that calls to you. And don’t forget to stock up on snacks!
