With the Spring 2018 semester just beginning, it is perfect timing to be aware of all the academic resources we have here on campus. If you are looking to improve your grades this semester, look no further!
-
The Word Studio. Located in ODY, the Word Studio is run by trained student tutors who are there to help with written and oral presentations. They do everything from helping proofread your essay to listening to your speech and giving you feedback.
-
The Peterson Quantitative Resource Center (PQRC). The PQRC is the Word Studio of the STEM courses, located in Valentine. In there you can find trained student tutors to help you with your math, science, computer science and/or economics classes. They also have a lot of solution manuals you can use to check over your homework.
-
Student Tutoring. If you are looking for a more one-on-one session, sign up for a tutor. This is a student who did really well in the class you are taking who will meet when it is convenient for the both of you and offer you specific help on whatever you may be struggling with. Sign up for a tutor on the SLU website.
-
Office Hours. Don’t underestimate the power of going to see your professor for help. They understand what is going on in the class better than anybody else, and if you can’t make their set office hours every teacher will be open to finding a time that works for both of you.
-
TA Hours. A lot of classes have Teaching Assistants with specific office hours or that will offer study sessions throughout the semester, so keep an eye out for those.
-
Academic Support. The academic support offices are in the Whitman Annex, and they are available to all students regarding any area of academics. They are not subject-based assistance, but will help in overall academic success, such as time management, study support, major declaration support among many other services.
