Okay, so with the start of the new semester comes the tragedy of having to go to class. The thought of getting out of bed is horrible and walking/driving to class is so much worse.

Fear not though, sis. Music is the answer to all problems and I have a list of songs here guaranteed to boost your morale and get you to class.

1. Sabotage // The Beastie Boys

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z5rRZdiu1UE

This song has the most badass opening in all of music and it’s just so cool to walk around listening to this song. You’ll feel like you’re on top of the world and like you can do anything.

2. Mama Can’t Buy You Love // Elton John

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0vdD6bLSVYI

This song isn’t as badass but it’s sure a lot of fun to listen to. This is more of a “skipping to class, all is right with the world” kind of song.

3. I Already Won // Kehlani

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8OJsHxBUko

Do you need some motivation? Do you need to know that you’re one boss lady that doesn’t need to take anything from anyone? Then this song is for you. It’ll make the walk class tomorrow much more bearable to know that you already won the day.

4. 25 or 6 to 4 // Chicago

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iUAYeN3Rp2E

Another song with a badass introduction?? Yes please. This song is just really cool sounding and is guaranteed to make you feel like you’re walking in an action movie (even though it might just be your bio lab.)

5. The Bitch is Back // Elton John

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ROUccFmugQE

New semester, new you?? Or even the same you! You are one tough lady and this song will make you feel like one. Plus, I guess it’s only right for the world to know that the bitch really is back.

6. Where You’re At // Allen Stone

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wN5MQBRv8oc

So maybe last semester was a struggle, and this semester is looking no better at all. How do you begin to feel good about that sort of thing? Well, in my opinion, the best way to get you to look at where you’re going is to understand (and coming to terms) with where you’re at so you can know how to get where you want to go.

7. Cherry Bomb // The Runaways

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yTiVCaNY1rI

A badass girl power song? Yes, yes, a thousand times yes! This song is full of angst and rebellion, and while you can’t not go to class, you can feel the same angst and the girl power that goes with it.

8. Daddy Lessons // Beyoncé and The Dixie Chicks

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yU8Z-VJ3W9Q

Beyoncé is a queen and The Dixie Chicks are legends and here they are singing a song about getting rid of people who treat them less than they deserve? This is the collab we all deserve, and on top of that, it’s a message we all need to know.

9. Disco Medley // Selena

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kqyUf19c_7Y

Another queen singing iconic songs?? Selena Quintanilla is an icon for not only Hispanic women but women in general, and her rendition of well-known disco tunes are beautiful and bound to make you want to dance around on the way to class.

10. Everybody Wants to Rule the World // Tears for Fears

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ST86JM1RPl0

The title of this song is true enough, everybody does rule the world. And you know what, you’re going to. This song is a gentle reminder that you don’t have a fate, and your life is what you make it. “Turn your back on mother nature,” and make your life what you want it to be.
