Time to wrap it up!
Every semester it feels like the end comes quicker and quicker. You blink an eye and finals are here! While it’s easy to get bogged down and distracted with studying or making break plans, don’t forget some critical end of semester tasks. Here are some tips on tying up loose ends and proactively organizing so you can be prepared for next semester before it comes!
1. Take home anything extra in your room you didn’t use this semester.
2. Clean out your email. Organize your mail into folders and trash what you don’t need.
3. Return your rented books! You don’t want those late fees.
4. Take a half hour to journal about how this semester went for you! Jot down some thoughts and feelings. Include a few goals for next semester too!
5. Clean your room! Taking out your trash, doing laundry, vacuuming and dusting will ensure you have a fresh, clean space to return to.
6. Donate clothes. If you didn’t wear it all semester, you probably don’t need it, but someone else might!
7. Take a walk around campus– just to remind yourself why you love it so much!
8. Stay healthy by being active and eating power foods. There’s a lot of stress build up towards finals time and you don’t want to get sick!
9. Look critically at your grades. Reach out to professors if there are any discrepancies.
10. Check in with any friends leaving campus, transferring, co-oping or going abroad. Grab lunch with them before they leave for their adventure!
11. Write thank you notes, emails or texts for anyone who helped make a positive impact on you this semester. It could be a roommate, professor, friend, advisor, RA, staff member, or classmate. Maybe even for that girl who sent you the lecture PowerPoint when you were sick and missed class, or that last minute date you brought to a function. Reaching out to those people will let them know you care and you’ll have a basis to a stronger relationship for the future!
Follow these suggestions and you’ll easily set yourself up for success when you come back from break! Ready, set, go!
