Maybe you weren’t one of them, but you know who they are: the PBS Kids. The kids whose parents didn’t “believe” in watching TV, the kids who were somewhat baffled when everyone else was talking about High School Musical while they didn’t even know what Disney Channel was. Hannah Montana who? Okay, so maybe we weren’t THAT isolated, but we didn’t get to watch Saturday morning Spongebob or know all the words to the Fairly Odd Parents theme song. But hey, it wasn’t all bad. There were some pretty ~bomb~ shows on PBS that kept us fairly entertained. Let’s take a walk down memory lane…
Arthur
An instant classic. Who wouldn’t want to follow around an aardvark as he navigates the third grade with his best friends? You always wished you had a “Sugarbowl” to go hang out at after school, and were jealous of Muffy and her posh lifestyle. If you and your best friend aren’t like Arthur and Buster, are you even friends?
Clifford the Big Red Dog
Another show adapted from the beloved books, Clifford is everything good in this world. You wished you could have a huge dog you could sleep on and live on Birdwell Island. Oh well, Pittsburgh will have to do.
Cyberchase
Finally, some ~cool~ math! If you didn’t love this show and their hilarious hijinks, you’re lying. Also props for having the catchiest theme song around town.
Zoom
Honestly, the people you wanted to be. You always wished you could be the one making gak and doing cool experiments on TV. Remember, send it to Z double O M Box 350, Boston Mass, 02134!
Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood
You didn’t even have to be a PBS Kid to love this show. We miss you and your sweaters, Mr. Rogers.
