Being away from home during the holiday season kind of sucks. Don’t worry. You can still decorate your dorm or apartment easily, and you don’t have to break the bank while doing it. Here’s some easy decorations to make your temporary home feel like your real one while you’re counting down the days for winter break!
DIY snowflakes

Remember making these paper snowflakes in elementary school? Bring the nostalgia into your living space and hang them from your ceiling or in front of windows. These are fun to make, and you can even spice them up with some silver glitter.
Pinecone wreath

This is another easy decoration that requires only a small amount of work. Gather some pine cones from outside and use a hot glue gun to arrange them in a wreath. Now, you can add to it any way you want and make it look so original. Try adding some red yarn, white spray for snow or any other crafty thing.
Mini tree

We can’t all afford to get a massive tree like back home, but a mini one will do the job. This also saves space (necessary in a dorm room) where you can put a small tree on your desk.
Lights

Christmas lights are a must-have. String them inside your room for a canopy of bright, twinkling lights that will surely put you in a good mood. Be creative with these, too. Fairy lights are a cool purchase that allows you to wrap lights around and inside of stuff to really make them look magical.
Presents

Save up those packages you get from online shopping and wrap them in some festive wrapping paper. A trip to the dollar store to get some paper will tie your living room together. Guests don’t need to know that the boxes are empty, either, and they can be arranged beneath a tree or in a corner as their own stand-alone piece.
