We’ve all been there ladies – the stress, the work, the overwhelming feeling of it all. But don’t worry! There are tons of things that you can do to help you stay organized and get through those extra stressful weeks.
1. Write a Weekly Schedule
Every Sunday, get in the habit of writing out your weekly schedule of all the upcoming events, assignments, and obligations that you know you have coming up. This will help you organize your thoughts before the week actually starts on Monday.
2. Make a Daily List of Things To Do
Every night, make a list of the things that you need to accomplish the next day. This practice will help because instead of looking at a long list of things to accomplish that week, you can make a smaller list and take your responsibilities day by day. If you finish those tasks, then feel free to get ahead on the next day’s agenda! Making these lists doesn’t have to be a bore either. You can spice it up by using cute post-it notes that you can stick everywhere, using fun colored pens when you write stuff, and color coding so you know exactly what needs to be done.
3. Time Management
Time management is ~everything~! Make sure that you stick to those to-do lists, but in a timely fashion. If you need to, plan out your day and write down specific times for when you are going to accomplish certain tasks. Look ahead at your schedule as well to see what things you could possibly be getting a head start on, like a project for a class. Going along with time management, try and do the quick, little tasks first to get them out of the way. This will help you feel much more accomplished as you go on with your day and handle the bigger tasks.
4. Organize the Things You Have to Do and Want to Do
Much of the time, we have things that we ~need~ to do that are clashing with things that we ~want~ to do throughout the week. It may help to organize the things you need to do and want to do by writing them on the same list but in separate columns, so that you have motivation to get the important things done first so that you can enjoy the fun things later. This is not to say that you should rush through the important things to get to the fun things. But you should allow yourself to have breaks to do something other than homework. Take a power nap, read a book for pleasure, go eat with friends, or watch some Netflix!
5. Get Your Rest
Sleep is a super important element of a college students’ life. Without it, we would not be able to function. Getting enough sleep is ~essential~ to getting your work done. Getting more sleep will give you more energy, helping you to accomplish things faster and put your best effort into whatever you are doing.
6. Step Back and Re-evaluate
Sometimes the stress can get to you and you need to just step back, take a breather, and re-evaluate what you need to accomplish. The last thing you want to do is stress yourself out even more. Lay your head back, take some deep breaths, do a little meditation exercise, and relax. Then get back to work feeling more calm and focused.
7. Stay Positive!
Ultimately, the best way to deal with the overwhelming feelings that come along with a busy week is to ~stay positive~. Don’t stress out, you can do it! It’s amazing what you can accomplish once you get yourself organized and focused.
