Sometimes you stumble into Alliot before class and grab the first thing you see, but other times it’s nice to take advantage of what our dining hall has to offer. Here are some easy ideas to spice up your life in Alliot.
Breakfast:
Toast with peanut butter and bananas
Pick out whatever bread you want and throw it in the toaster for a minute. When you’re done, you can put peanut butter or honey on top and grab a banana. Throw some banana slices on there, and voila! It’s like you’re at a brunch place in Burlington instead of Alliot.
Yogurt with peanut butter, granola, bananas, and apple slices
This one seems easy, but you’d be surprised how much better it makes the yoghurt taste. Cut up some apples and bananas for your yoghurt and granola. The secret ingredient? A dollop of peanut butter mixed in.
Oatmeal with honey, brown sugar, bananas, and apple slices
Slicing up fruit and adding honey is my favorite way to make oatmeal taste better. Plus, they usually have brown sugar out for you to throw on top and make it extra sweet!
Lunch and Dinner:
Chicken salad
If you go to the stir fry station with your own bowl of kale or lettuce, then you can get whatever grilled chicken or beef and vegetables you want in your own bowl. This tastes so much better for nights where you don’t just want stir fry over rice. If you add a little bit of soy sauce with your vinaigrette, it tastes incredible!
Mac n cheese
Usually, Alliot has the pasta station for dinner. If you take a bowl of pasta and get shredded cheese– either from the salad, chip and dip, or gluten section– then you can heat it up in the microwave for your very own mac n cheese.
Buffalo chicken salad
After you make yourself a salad, get a few pieces of chicken– grilled or chicken tenders– and add hot sauce. Cut up the chicken and mix it well for buffalo chicken salad.
Dessert:
Lava Cakes
If you go into the gluten free freezer, they have chocolate muffins in the drawer. If you heat it up for 45 seconds and then add ice cream, you’ll have yourself a lava cake with ice cream!
Cookie Mugs
On the days I feel like I need an extra pick-me-up, I usually throw a chocolate chip cookie or a bar into the bottom of a mug and then put ice cream on top. That way, you don’t have to decide which dessert you want!
