Flu season is about to take over campus. While it technically has already started, flu season hits its peak around December. According to NPR, “every year, about 1 in 4 college students get the flu.”
There’s a high probability that you or someone you know will come down with the flu at some point this year. Since college dorms are a breeding ground for germs, it’s much more likely that a college student will get sick.
There’s no way of avoiding the flu, especially living in a dorm, but here are some simple tips to keep you healthy:
-
Wash your hands often
-
Keep your room clean (clean your door knob, dust your shelves, etc.)
-
Get a good night’s sleep, especially if you feel the flu coming on
-
Stay hydrated (water is your friend!)
-
Exercise regularly
-
Refrain from close contact with those who are sick
Please, take care of yourselves this winter. Bundle up, stay warm, and keep healthy. If you get sick, visit the Health Center on campus.
They’re open from:
8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, & Friday
9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday
Stay healthy!
